Fall Prevention

Family Caregiving September 23, 2015 Print Friendly and PDF

Fall prevention should be of particular concern for older adults, caregivers and care receivers. Falls are the most common cause of fatal injury among older adults.

For that reason, it's imperative that hazards be removed from the home. There are many fall prevention resources available, including the Fall Prevention in the Home: Changes for Healthy Living video from Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Texas A&M System. Other safety measures, including assistive technology, may help address fall prevention. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also maintains a clearinghouse for fall prevention resources.
