Diseases that can affect the skin include viral and bacterial infections and infestations by parasites.

Viral Infection

Fowl Pox

Clinical signs of fowl pox include the following:

  • Coughing
  • Sneezing
  • Rales
  • Gasping
  • Discharge from the eyes
  • Retarded growth
  • Warts or scabs

Bacterial Infection


Erysipelas is a disease that affects range turkeys. This disease can cause swollen snoods and sudden death.


Mites and Lice

Mites and lice are external parasites that can cause skin problems.
