Grapes September 07, 2015 Print Friendly and PDF

In this third of three videos, viticulturist Fritz Westover at Virginia Tech University builds on the previous presentations in the series (Grapevine Anatomy and Vine Balance and Selecting Fruitful Wood and Balanced Pruning), with emphasis on pruning grapes in cold climates, such as the northeastern U.S. He focuses on winter injury complications, determining the extent of winter injury, pruning to avoid injury (including rough or double pruning), choosing appropriate varieties, and renewal of damaged vines.
