lori headshotLori Nelson is a Nutrition Manager of School Health and Wellness for the Dairy Council of Florida. In her role, she promotes Fuel Up to Play 60, an in-school nutrition and physical activity program, assists in dairy integration in schools and serves as the organization's dietitian and school liaison. She also travels around the state training undergraduate and dietetics interns in dairy council resources and media training. Previously she served as a Dietitian Specialist for the Brevard County School District where she led a variety of nutrition education programs and developed and implemented nutrition tools and resources. In addition she created marketing tools for food services and assisted in the development of school menus and recipes. Before that she worked for the Florida Department of Health WIC Program. Lori has also been a speaker for the Early Learning Collation in Brevard and Orange County on the topic of food allergies and nutrition for special needs children. In 2012 Lori was awarded Young Dietitian of the Year for Florida. She has served many leadership roles. She is currently the scholarship chair for the Florida Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and an active member of the Orlando Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  Lori has a Masters in Human Nutrition from Eastern Michigan University (2010), completed her dietetic internship at UMDNJ ( 2003) and her BS in Nutrition from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (2002).
