Have you ever wanted to become a professional horse show judge or be more competitive in the show ring? The course "How to Be a Professional Horse Show Judge" gives you insight on what you need to know about horses in the show ring. It walks you through possible classes you could see at a horse show, from conformation to cattle classes and showmanship to jumping. This course will help you understand what the judge is looking for, or what you would need to know to be that judge standing in center ring!

The learning objectives for this course include:

  • Becoming more familiar with basic judging principles
  • Learning more about the requirements for becoming a judge
  • Knowing more about what classes to expect when judging a horse show

This course can benefit a variety of individuals involved in the horse industry. For example, 4-H and FFA youth may want to continue their passion for horse judging, or a Horse Judging Team may learn class criteria of specific events. Most importantly, this course provides a foundation for those seeking professional horse judge certifications.

This course is offered through eXtension's Campus. You will need to create an account and register with Campus to view and participate in this and other equine courses offered by eXtension.
