Laura is a Texas native who has made North Carolina her home for the past 15 years.  Her love of hiking, camping, and "all things nature," led her to a career in the environmental sciences.  With an Earth Science Education degree from University of North Texas and a Masters in Environmental Geography / Sustainable Agriculture from Texas A&M University, Laura's career has focused on education, sustainable development and energy conservation.

Laura is the Energy Conservation Program Manager with North Carolina Cooperative Extension. This state-wide program was created to inform and educate North Carolina consumers about ways to both reduce energy use and increase energy efficiency in the home. This program educates and empowers consumers to be proactive in reducing their home energy consumption through energy efficiency measures, behavioral changes and home retrofits.
Laura designs and conducts train-the-trainer workshops and develops training, outreach, and curriculum materials for North Carolina Cooperative Extension field faculty.  In addition, she creates program web content, manages volunteer initiatives, oversees home assessments and retrofit projects, and provides program evaluation, resulting in collaborative publications.
