What are oats?

Oats belong to a group of plants known as cereal grasses. Cereal grasses produce what are called cereal grains. Oats are a type of cereal grain that is used to feed humans and animals. Other cereal grains include wheatcorn, and sorghum.

Oatmeal is a common way we eat oats. But oats can be used in a variety of ways:

  • bread
  • cookies
  • cake
  • biscuits
  • salad
  • smoothies
  • pancakes
