2017 Annual Imported Fire Ant and other Invasive Ants Conference

Meeting Chair Dr. Fudd Graham invites you to the 2017 Imported Fire Ant and Other Invasive Ants Conference.  The conference is in Mobile, Alabama on May 16-18, 2017.  The conference will be held at the Renaissance Mobile Riverview Plaza Hotel.   

Meeting Registration:

Registration for the meeting is now open!  Early registration fees are $200 per person until 4:45 pm Central Time, April 14, 2017. After that date, registration fees will be $250 per person. Registration fees for graduate students and guests are $100 per person. Registration will include an evening reception Tuesday, May 16, Continental Breakfast Wednesday, May 17 and Thursday, May 18, and lunch on Wednesday, May 17.

Poster and Paper Submission:

We are accepting submissions for poster and oral presentations. Oral presentations can be either 15 minutes or 20 minutes. Posters can be no larger than 40” X 40”. Presenters are welcome to submit more than once, but only one submission per form is allowed. All presentations and posters must be submitted by April 15, 2017.

Hotel Information

A room block has been reserved at the Renaissance Mobile Riverview Plaza Hotel for May 14 through May 20, 2017.   If you make reservations by phone, mention "Auburn University Dept. of Entomology - Imported Fire Ant and Invasive Ant Conference."  Parking is $15/day for self service and $20/day for valet parking.  The hotel does not provide a shuttle to the airport.

  • Tuesday May 16: evening reception
  • Wednesday: meeting all day
  • Thursday May 18: meeting ends sometime in the afternoon and will be followed by a 2 hour meeting of the Ant Pests/Fire Ant eXtension CoP.
  • Friday May 19: meeting of the Tawny Crazy Ant Working Group

Getting There

The Mobile Regional Airport is 14 miles from the hotel.  You can also look into flying into the Pensacola International Airport (57 miles away) or the Gulfport/Biloxi International Airport (72 miles away).
